also, Half-Life 2 Update is standalone and uses its own folder, so don't merge that.
keep in mind that all the other versions of HL2(ep1, ep2, LC) use the same "Half-Life 2" folder as the main game, and should be merged in case you wanna play them. Then, launch it from SSE, and your game should be running! you can make additional shortcuts with other launch parameters this same way. to bring down the console right click steam logo,select play games,right click half life 2. name the shortcut whatever you'd like, and hit save.
